Hi, you 🙂 *sheepishly waves* It’s been a while. This was something I’ve tried desperately to avoid, but life catches up with me, from time to time… Here’s hoping I won’t be missing any more posts on my schedule! *fingers crossed*
Festival de Cannes (Cannes Film Festival) is an annual international film festival held at Cannes, France, known for its fashion parade as much as its movies.
A million years after the fortnight long film festival, I’m sharing with you my favorite looks from the Cannes 2016 red carpet. There were loads of pantsuits, see throughs, 20’s Art Deco slips,Victorian gowns, lace curtain and sleepwear inspired outfits. Here are my top ten+ because I’m an indecisive human being 😛
1. Bella Hadid
Lets get this one out of the way! This Alexandre Vauthier satin wrap dress will go down in history, as dangerously risque dresses do! Remember JLo in that green Versace and Liz Hurley in the Black safety pin dress? Also Versace.
2. Petra Nemcova
Marble goddess in a plunging white Vicedomini dress styled with emeralds.
3. Aishwarya Rai
Her rose quartz Rami Kadi gown was so beautiful, but she received a lot of flak for her lip color. In her defense, it’s got a lot to do with lighting! (It actually looks good in some pictures) But IMO, more people should be offended by the blue eyeshadow train wreck. (that completely washed out the green of her eyes)
4. Sonam Kapoor
Diva-swan in Ralph and Russo. No, not the rumali roti/dosa/raita-phail-gaya dress, which wasn’t all that bad! Ah… Queen 🙂
5. Chanel Iman
Slinky minimalist silver and pink halter dress from KaufmanFranco. Another dare-to-bare piece from a Victoria’s Secret model.
Don’t know how how something so busy can look SO good! Rocking that Gucci so nonchalantly. Soko has had zero efs to give throughout her time at Cannes, but this one is an all out winner! (FAVOURITE)
7. Daria Strokous
Smokey grey Zuhair Murad creation. A little less product, a little more volume in the hair could have made it better, no?
8. Jourdan Dunn
High-low Ralph and Russo tea dress inspired masterpiece. The watercolor applique and embroidery is so modern yet quaint.
9. Karlie Kloss
Love her black velvet Marchesa slit gown with the floral ruffle off-shoulder on top.
10. Naomi Watts
Lilac grey Armani Prive with delicate foliage embellishments.
See Through Embellished Dresses
This is not a person, obviously, but basically all the neutral see through sequinned dresses. Makes you wonder if these dresses are just recycled! Some of them though, are definite standouts.
